Monday Specials - an order of e-sissy to go please.

With the Easter celebrations and the first real sunny spring days of this year hitting there was not much time for EVE over the weekend. I continue to court new corps. with ZombiNutz and well the options are staggering as always in EVE.

I’ve had a lot of great suggestions from folks about jumping into PVP. Mansai suggested the Agony Unleashed for PvP training which seems like nothing but awesome. Logan suggested diving in and applying to stimulus if I can handle the abuse, also a great idea. I’ve had a number of corps. from highsec miners looking for more combat folks to nullsec small time pirates approach ZombiNutz.

So where am I at here? The truth is I don’t know. I am being an e-sissy here sitting on a fence with my digital thumb up my ass. I have several great opportunities and all I can do is pick them apart. I am hopeless.

Back at the carebear ranch SonOfBraben just baked up a fresh batch of rifters. Sending 20 to Zombi as a “get your bloody act together chump!” gift and putting the rest on the market to cover the cost of the BPO and materials with a little profit on the side. He is also selling t1 ammo faster than he can make it and blitzing LvL 3 Caldari navy missions in a nifty new Brutix. Business is good and not too dull aka very little mining.

Now to the subject of rifters:

So I’ve been out on battlenet noobing about for a good solo/gang tackle rifter fit. Now that I can make ‘em at a cost that I find reasonable the next this to do is start working on the mods and ammo to fit them. Zombi can fly ‘em now and should have the T2 auto cannons in 6 ish days.

So if anyone has a good rifter fit they love to fly please send the details over. I am currently bumming around the belts in a T1 125mm auto cannon buffer tank fit. Pretending the rats are real people and trying to close distance without taking fire and getting a “point” on them so to speak.

In other news Astral just jumped back to his old corp. right about when I was actually about to fleet up and go roam with him. Guess he did not like being shown the door when he asked to borrow my wife. Good luck out there mate!

  1. I'll give you one fit that is likely useless in anything but a fleet.

[Rifter, PvP - Disposable Tackler (4km/s, 3sec align)]
    Damage Control II
    Overdrive Injector II
    Overdrive Injector II

    Phased Monopropellant I Hydrazine Boosters
    Warp Disruptor II
DDO Photometry Tracking Disruptor I, Tracking Speed Disruption

    200mm AutoCannon II, Barrage S
    200mm AutoCannon II, Barrage S
    200mm AutoCannon II, Barrage S

Other than that I always used to fly the following,

    [Rifter, 200mmrepnos]
200mm Reinforced Rolled Tungsten Plates I
    Damage Control II
    Small Armor Repairer II

    1MN Afterburner II
    X5 Prototype I Engine Enervator
J5b Phased Prototype Warp Scrambler I

150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
150mm Light AutoCannon II, Republic Fleet Fusion S
    Small 'Knave' I Energy Drain

    Small Projectile Burst Aerator I
    Small Projectile Collision Accelerator I
    [empty rig slot]

Well when i flew it I didn't have the rigs, but the Nos tends to keep you alive long enough to kill cruisers and some BC's, though never approach a brutix, trust me...

From personal experience, running protection ops for miners in lowsec never works, you will either get bored and stop pvping, or far more likely the miners will start looking mroe and more like juicy targets and less and less like someone you are trying to protect, eventually you will end up killing those you are marginally supposed to be protecting!

Life in lowsec is a lot more free than life in highsec I would say. While you sit on the fence you miss out on all the fun kills and losses you could be having lol! you don't HAVE to have a corp, just get out into lowsec and fight pirates or fight miners. Figure out a corp later if your gonna waffle!

  2. Hmm.. the second rifter fit is similar to what I am messing around with. I think it has a MWD (bad idea I know) and no NOS.

yeah I know. I need to get off my duff and JFDI. FINE!

How screwed am I with out Thermodynamics? I'd expect I'd get roasted buy anyone with it right?

BAH. I need to stop pissing about with skills don't I!

    Cheers and thanks again Logan.

  3. as a side note, look here

    Or this fit

  4. Sweet! Thanks mate. I really need to strap in for a few hours and break a few of these don't I!

  5. Yeah just maybe go out a die a few times lol!

As for Thermodynamics, in lowsec your more likely to face people who don't use it given the ratio of lazy pvpers out there vs ones out in our stretch of 0.0. As far as screwed? nah I don't think it's quite that bad, it does provide a noticeable advantage though, but it's not insurmountable. Especially with frigates where front loading DPS will provide you a kill vs getting killed. But without proper micro management it's just as useless as anything else!

With the Rifter and Barrage S, you get the advantage of out ranging, by default, most other t1 ships base setups, or at least matching them.

MWD just jacks up your main advantage, that being size, with it on you are the size of a small cruiser, with it off, you are tinier and harder to hit.

I think in piracy you will mainly be fighting cruiser and BC while in anti-pirating your best bet at winning there would be to fight against other frigates.

Don't feel like anyone is going to judge you for dying a few (hundred) times when you are starting out, it's expected in my opinion as long as you learn from your mistakes. I still do especially when flying ships I don't fly often.

If it's just your own fear of diving in then JFDI!

  6. Check out Wensley's site:

He is phenomenal at fitting rifters and is a highly respected pilot of the craft!

Tell him the mule sends his regards!

  7. I've read his guide many times. I read all his work actually. I would agree 100% with your advice Mate!

Thanks to both you and Logan for your comments and encouragements.
