Yeah, that UI thingy for Logan "BBW" Fyreite

Yeah so I totally spaced for about a month in response to Logan's call to the bloggers around UI setup etc. Seeing as he called me out on it today, it's time to man up and make good on the promise I made.

So here is what my UI looks like when ZombiNutz is out and about looking for stuff to shoot.

So as we walk around we have the HUD top of the screen and offset to the left. Locked targets flow to the right of it. OverView is next with 4 tabs ranging from the default with the world on it to PVP ships only showing anything with standings of 0 to -10 over there. Next down on the bottom right we have cargo hold for bullets and loot. Left of that we have intel channels and Alli chat (some blocking to protect the guilty). A big hole in the middle then D-SCAN followed by a BIG local with corp and social nested. Fleet sits on top in a very small window.

So basically that's my layout. I've been running it this way for a few months now and I like the click-ability of it all. I have a totally different layout for carebear stuff but well it's not exactly a sport for quick clicks and fast movement.

Feed back and questions welcome. No Logan I am not going to tell you what's under the orange boxes. :)

Cheers

  1. aww you say that like I don't already know => (I'm in your fleets planning your downfall)

I like how you have your radial positioned, how did you get it to move over there? I have only so far found options for align top and bottom, they being sneaky and hiding more options in there now?

Very nice config though, if you ever had the chance to lock 12 targets do they wrap around and get in the way?

  2. I guess we know your getaway plan is to go to the sun ;)

  3. SOS tab mate, has all the planets and gates and such. um...I mean yeah the SUN is where I am going to warp. The sun ;)

Logan click and drag the radial by the cap bars basically. You can have it smack dab in the middle of the screen if you want. Nope never locked up more than 7 targets and with a 1680x1050 wide screen they all fit in a nice row.

Yes trust no one! Shoot it if it's not blue. If you shoot a blue claim your color blind.

  4. I have an SOS-like tab, but I'm quite sure I'll forget it when I really need it. I'd probably try to warp to whatever was in my current tab.

  5. Yeah! When things get busy clicking a tab then a new object can be ruff. the SOS tab is what I do in warp while I take a hit of Glenfiddich to calm my self down :)

  6. NIce layout, clean and easy to see what's what. Now I guess I'll have to do this or Logan will never let me hear the end of it.

  8. You know you love me!

I will have to try dragging the radial around like that.

I fly logistics on occasion so sometimes I have a absolutely stupid number of people locked and my targets end up ducking behind my local window or scanner. They really need to add a place to split where your targets start forming another line, and make it adjustable so you can have your targets fit where you want them and wrap around properly!

  9. you can move the target start point as well. There is a little water marp cross hair top left of the first target you can grab and drag too.

I run two PCs with a single monitor each connected to a single keyboard and mouse via synergy. the UI above is the left screen. the right system has the overview to the left bit the same radial location. the action bar is right below the radial as well. So it's very easy for me to lock and orbit with two ships with very little mouse movement.

all fun stuff. Looks like RJ posted his as well.

  10. Yeah, I know about moving the target origin, I was talking about adding a option to tell it where to start a new line of targets. Say if you lock 10-12 targets up they will wrap under your other active windows, like in my setup they duck under the scanner windows and local chat making access to the targets thusly hidden hard unless I minimize the offending windows. I want an option that can say once the targets reach this point or x number they start a new line and have that option configurable as a part of the UI.

Nice use of Synergy btw. I love that program!

yeah I guilt-ed him into posting as well lol!

  11. yeah. Like a box where targets start then fill and stack.

I've used synergy for years both for work and gaming. seamless with Windows 7 64bit as well.
